Duringtheregularlabeldesignprocessyouputtheobjectsonthecertainspotonthelabelandthey
occupythatspacewheneverthelabelprints.Ifyoulinkobjectwithvariables,theobjectsbecome
variableobject.Iflinkedvariablescontainmoredata,theobjectswillusuallyincreasetheirsizeand
occupymorespace.Youmustbecarefultoanticipatethemaximumvariablelengthanddesignyour
objectsaccordinglysotheobjectsdonotoverlapeachotherorexceedthelabelboundaries.How-
ever,insomecasesyouneedtheobjecttochangeitsplacementonthelabel.
For example:Youhaveamulti-linetextobjectandbarcodeonthelabel.Thebarcodemustalways
printbelowthetextobject.Tosolvetheproblem,youmustlinktheobjectstogether.Thetextobject
isaparentobject,thebarcodeislinkedtoisasachildobject.Youcanlocktheverticalpositionof
thebarcodetothebottomofthetextobject.Youcanalsodefinetheoffsetbetweentheobject.
Seetheschemebelow.Thebarcodechangesitsverticalplacement.Theverticaldistancebetween
thetextandbarcodeobjectisalways1cm,nomatterthenumberoflinesinthetextobject.
Variablepositioningofthebarcodeobject(linkedtothebottomofthetextobject)
Theplacementofeachlabelobjectcanbevariable.Youcandefinetheplacementbasedonthelabel
borderorbasedonthedistancefromsomeotherlabelobject.Ineachcase,youcandefinetheoffset
fromtheborderorotherobject.Ofcourse,youcandefineobjecthorizontalandverticalrelativeposi-
tionsindependentlyofeachother.
Toenabletherelativepositioningoftheobject,dothefollowing:
1. Opentheobject'sproperties.
2. GototheAppearancetab.
3. ClicktheAdvancedbuttonintheAnchoringPointsection.
4. Definetheappropriatehorizontalandverticalrelativeposition.
5. ClickOKwhenready.
Whendefiningtherelativeobjectpositionsyoumightalsowanttoenablethevariablelabelsizing.
Thelengthofthelabelcanalsoadapttothesizeoftheobjects.

Torotatethelabelonthescreen,dothefollowing:
