Use Project Folders
Youshouldalwaysdesigntheappropriatefolderlayoutondiskforyourlabelprojects.Withthatin
mindyoucanincreaseyourworkefficiencysignificantlyandalwaysknowwherecertaintypesof
filesarestored.Theapplicationsalsofindsrequiredfilesfasterthisway.
Usingconsistentfoldersisimportantwithmoredemandingprojects,whereyouhavealotoflabels,
databases,picturesandprintingforms.Ofcourse,youcanalwayschangethefilelocationinappli-
cationpreferences(Tools -> Options).Butthisapproachisnotreallyrecommended,whenyouwork
withdifferentprojectsanddonotwanttomixthefilesbetweentheprojects.
Youshoulddothefollowing:
1. Makeaseparatefolderforeachproject,youarebuilding,e.g.Project1.
2. Beneaththisfoldermakethefollowingsubfolders.
n Database(fordatabases)
n Forms(forforms)
n Graphics(forimages)
n Labels(forlabels)
Note:UsetheEnglishnamesforthefolders.
3. Storeappropriatefilesineachofthesesubfolders.
4. Donotchangeanyfolderlocationinapplicationpreferences(Tools->Options).
Whentheapplicationswillrequiresomefiletherelativelinksbetweenthefilesisalwaysthesame.
Evenifyoucopythemainprojectfoldertosomeotherlocationordisk,therelativelinksbetweenthe
subfolderDatabase,Forms,GraphicsandLabelsremainthesame.
For example:Theimageisplacedonthelabel.Theoriginalimagelocationwasc:\MyProject10\-
Grahics\logo.jpgonyourlocaldisk.Whenthelabelprojectforthecustomeriscomplete,youcopy
thefolderstructure"MyProject"tothecustomer'scomputerandrenameitto"Labels".Thelocation
isd:\Labels.Becauseyouusethesubfolders,therelativelinkbetweenthelabelinLabelsfolderand
theimagelogo.jpgintheGraphicsfolderisthesame.Theapplicationcanfindtheimage.
